Princess Märtha Louise & Ari Behn's wedding

[Back to the photo gallery...]

Friday May 24 2002, Norwegian Princess Märtha Louise married the author Ari Behn in Nidarosdomen, Trondheim. Since I'm studying in that very city, I was there when the whole city was turned upside down. My #1 priority for the evening: To see Princess Madeleine of Sweden with my own eyes...
Unfortunately, I was apparently struck with the "blur-virus" that day, which was a catastrophy for my photos, but I've decided to share some of them with you anyway...

The Red Carpet: King Harald V and his daughter, the bride, begin their journey from Stiftsgården to Nidarosdomen. This is the first time the bride is seen in public this day.

Munkegata
Munkegata: This is what Munkegata looked like during the wedding. Munkegata is sort of Trondheim's Main Street. This picture is taken sothwards, from Dronningens Gate. Trondheim Square is right between Stiftsgården (the Royal residence in Trondheim) and Nidarosdomen.

Crowded: As a special treat for the public, the royals walked back from the cathedral to Stiftsgården. Not an easy task to take good pictures in this insane crowd, but at least we can see the bride coming down the street.

Look!: If only that (damn) bodyguard would disappear (he is covering what I came to see...). Who we do see, however, is Prince Carl Philip of Sweden

Yes!: Here she is, the lovely Princess Madeleine of Sweden (and her brother Carl Philip, but who cares about him... no offense, CP). The roar from the crowd reached new heights when she appeared (and she's two years younger than me, imagine that ;o) )

The Kiss: As people are starting to leave, the bride and groom appear on the balcony of Stiftsgården, to show something to the public... the kiss.
